The power generated in the engine is transmitted to the rear wheel of your moped with the help of the drive chain and the gear rim. Ultimately, it is this transmission that ensures that your bead moves forwards. However, if the sprocket is worn or damaged, the chain on your Sachs moped may slip or even jump off. With a smaller gear rim, which has one or more teeth less than the original sprocket, you can achieve a longer gear ratio. For you and your Sachs moped, this means a higher top speed with weaker acceleration. A larger sprocket with more teeth shortens the chain ratio. In practice, this means that you can look forward to faster acceleration, but have to accept a reduction in top speed. By the way: If you decide to replace the gear rim on your Sachs moped, this offers the additional advantage that this measure is not immediately noticeable.
